Training on Risk Assessment of Chemicals (SAICM QSP Project)

In the last 30 years, a large amount of information related to chemical assessment, including many useful tools and databases, have been developed.  However, dissemination and implementation of this information to all regions of the world is not straightforward and needs additional efforts. For the IPCP, sharing of methods and tools among all countries is a primary goal. The IPCP therefore initiated this SAICM QSP project that aims to support capacity building, transfer of data, methods, and tools to developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

The project starts from a compilation of training materials that were made available to the participating countries. The main part of the project involves work in three individual countries, Armenia, Chile and Ghana, where the materials are employed in different case studies and the applicability and ease-of-use of the methods and tools are evaluated.  In the final step, experiences from the three countries will be systematically compared, and conclusions will be drawn for the applicability of the various methods and tools.
