Fresh off the press and just in time for the upcoming the first session of the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution (ISP-CWP P1) in Geneva, Switzerland on 2-6 February 2026, Environmental Science & Technology just published “A call to action: Engaging with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution” led by our board members Miriam Diamond and Gabriel Sigmund with support from Marlene Ågerstrand, Michael Bertram, Alex Ford, Rainer Lohmann, Andreas Schaeffer, Maria Clara Starling Anna Soehl, Noriyuki Suzuki, Penny Vlahos, Marta Venier and Martin Scheringer. In this Viewpoint the authors provide insights and thoughts on the mandate of the ISP-CWP, starting points for its work, the importance and promise of multilateralism, as well as why and how scientists should engage with the panel moving forward.
