The 2011 general assembly of the IPCP was held during the 2011 International Conference on Chemistry and the Environment, ICCE, on September 12, 2011, in Zürich, Switzerland.


From 2010 to 2013, the project "Training on risk assessment of chemicals at national level in a global context" funded by the SAICM Quick Start Programme Trust Fund is conducted. The project started in May 2010 and is implemented by the governments of Armenia, Chile and Ghana with the IPCP as executing agency.

On July 7-8, 2010, the kick-off workshop of the project was held in Zürich, Switzerland; the three national workshops of the project were held on December 1-2, 2010, in Accra, Ghana, on February 24-25, 2011, in Yerevan, Armenia, and on March 23-24, 2011, in Santiago de Chile.

The IPCP collaborates with the UNEP Scientific Expert Group on Chemicals and the Environment on guidance materials for assessing the impact of chemicals on sensitive ecosystems. In February and March 2012, a training workshop will be held in Lusaka, Zambia, in collaboration with the Zambia Environmental Management Agency.


On October 28, 2010, the San Antonio Statement onf Brominated and Chlorinated Flame Retardants was published on-line by Environmental Health Perspectives. The Statement is a summary of the scientific knowledge about the unwanted properties of brominated and chlorinated flame retardants. An important aspect of the San Antonio Statement is that it addresses an entire group of chemicals and points to the underlying problem that for many years chemicals of concern have been replaced with similar chemicals of similar concern and that there is a need to develop a new perspective on fire protection.

At the 12th EuCheMS International Conference on Chemistry and the Environment in Stockholm, Sweden, 14–17 June 2009, a pre-session about the IPCP was be held. The session was recorded and can be watched here.

Events: IPCP's third anniversary in November 2011

On November 24, 2008, the IPCP was established as an association according to Swiss law.
